Certificate according to § 10 of prostitute protection law
There are two things to do according to the prostitute protection law.
1st Step: Health consultation according to §10 ProstSchG
- The Consultation takes place at the local public health department (“Gesundheitsamt” Rhein-Neckar-Kreis), Kurfürsten-Anlage 38-40, 69115 Heidelberg.
2nd Step: Registration with personal briefing and consultation (§7 ProstSchG)
- If you’re working in Heidelberg registration takes place at the citizen center, (“Bürger- und Ordnungsamt” City of Heidelberg), Bergheimer Str. 69, 69115 Heidelberg.
- If you’re working in the Rhein-Neckar-Kreis (i.e. Sinsheim and Weinheim) you register at the local public order office: (“Ordnungsamt”), Landratsamt Rhein-Neckar-Kreis, Kurfürstenanlage 38-40 69115 Heidelberg
Consultation on health-related topics according to § 10 of prostitute protection law:
- The consultation is confidential.
- No information or data will be passed on..
- The Consultation Certificate on health related topics is required for your registration at the citizen center (“Bürgeramt” City of Heidelberg) or the public order office (“Ordnungsamt“ Landratsamt Rhein-Neckar-Kreis). Once your certificate is issued you must register at one of those offices within 3 months.
- The certificate is issued in your full name.
- The health consultation must be repeated every 12 months. Prostitutes younger than 21 must attend a consultation session every six months.
- The consultation certificate is valid throughout Germany.
The Certificate must state the following:
- First- and last name of the person receiving consultation.
- Date of birth
- Place where the certificate has been issued
- Date of the health consultation
In addition to the certificate issued in your official name, the public authority can issue what is called an “alias certificate” (Alias-Bescheinigung) upon request.
Instead of your official name, the alias certificate will be issued in a name of your choosing, i.e. an alias (e.g. work name, pseudonym).
The health consultation certificate is also valid should further registrations be required.

(1) Upon registration the notifiable person must submit two passport pictures and contain the following information:
- first and last name
- date and place of birth
- nationality (work permit where relevant)
- registered address/ registered place of residence in Germany
- federal state or districts where you would like to work
(2) Upon registration, your identity card, passport, replacement ID card of any kind must be presented. Foreign nationals who are not entitled for freedom of movement within the EU must prove upon time of registration that they are entitled to work or be self-employed.
(3) Upon your initial registration you need to submit verification of health consultation within the previous 3 months according to § 10 paragraph 1. The certificate of health consultation according to § 10 of prostitute protection law: No later than 3 months after your health consultation certificate has been issued.
In order to extend registration prostitutes over the age of 21 must display verification of their yearly health certificate consultation according to §10 of the prostitute protection law.
Prostitutes younger than 21 years old must verify having attended the health consultation according to § 10 of prostitute protection law at least once every 6 months.
Important Notice:
The prostitute has to carry the registration certificate or the alias certificate and the certificate of health consultation when performing the activity (§5 und §10 Prostitute Protection Law).
